Respirable Dust & Silica Control at Bryn Group Material Recycling Facility
Advanced Dust Suppression Technology Addresses Critical Silica Dust Health Risks in Recycling Operations
Challenge:
As one of South Wales’ largest recycling companies processing 125,807 tonnes of diverted waste annually, Bryn Recycling faced critical health and safety concerns highlighted by a Centre for Health, Safety and Environment (CHSE) study. The investigation revealed dangerously high levels of respirable dust and concerning levels of respirable silica dust throughout their reception hall and processing lines, requiring immediate intervention to protect worker health and ensure regulatory compliance.

The Mist-air Solution:
Mist-air installed a comprehensive dust and odour suppression system in 2016 featuring fan-assisted manifolds positioned in the roof space to deliver controllable coverage across the entire building. The system provides targeted dust suppression throughout the reception hall and along the full length of the processing lines, effectively addressing the critical respirable dust and silica dust concerns identified in the CHSE study while maintaining operational efficiency.
