Large-Scale Bespoke Dust Control System Enhances Safety at World's Largest Premium Aluminium Producer
Challenge:
Emirates Global Aluminium, the world’s largest premium aluminium producer, required comprehensive dust control at their six-square-kilometer Al Taweelah refinery. Large quantities of bauxite dust were generated during transportation from ships to the massive 300m x 100m bauxite storage building and during material handling operations within the facility. The harsh desert environment and scale of operations demanded effective dust suppression to improve visibility, ensure worker safety, and prevent potential flash explosions.

The Mist-air Solution:
Mist-air designed and installed a bespoke dust suppression system in 2018 covering the entire length of the bauxite storage building. The system creates a micro-fine fog that effectively suppresses airborne dust, improving visibility and working conditions for operatives. Additional benefits include flash explosion prevention and a cooling effect for workers in the challenging UAE climate. Security features include lockable switches to prevent unauthorized tampering.
