How Mist-Air Dust Suppression Systems Helped Giffords Recycling Ltd
A case study in Dust Suppression
Challenge:
mist-air have had a successful working relationship with Giffords Recycling Ltd well over a decade with our first system being installed in 2004. Giffords began trading in 1983 and have had to relocated 4 times due to the growing success of their business. In 2003 they moved to their current home in in West Bromwich. This site is now a purpose-built facility in the centre of England and is widely regarded as the most cutting-edge, state-of-the-art operation of its kind, not only in the UK but in Europe. From there they produced an innovative range of ground covering products for a wide range of applications each researched and developed to meet the specific needs of several distinct markets. Their two wood grinding lines consist of the highest
standard equipment, and are capable of producing tonnes of product per year. They have gained national and international recognition for our pioneering, environmentally-friendly work using 100% recycled wood.

The Mist-air Solution:
The mist-air system on site offers easily controllable suppression across the entire recycling facility. High level mist-air fan assisted manifolds produce a micro fine fog that floats in the air removing suspended airborne dust particles by adding a small amount of weight but without creating wetting on the product, floor, personal or equipment. This has many benefits including prevention of explosive atmospheres, housekeeping issues, environmental impact from the operation, nuisance to neighbours and most importantly safety of employees through better occupational health.
