Reducing Airborne Dust
Challenge:
Bardon Hill Quarry is not only one of the largest hard rock quarries in the UK but also headquarters of Aggregate Industries a member of Lafarge Holcim who have over 200 sites worldwide.
Following the successful 2017 installation of a mist-air dust suppression system at their Torr Works site in Somerset; mist-air were tasked by Komatsu to design, supply and install a dry fog suppression system for their ambitious project to expand the life span of the current quarry by linking their two quarries together allowing them to access 132million tonnes of reserves.

The Mist-air Solution:
This meant mist-air needed to suppress dust at every conveyor head and tail transfer point for more than 3,000m of conveyers.
The success and durability of the mist-air system in this harsh environment has engendered many opportunities to tender.
